Pouch v prismatic v cylindrical battery for GMC Sierra EV?

There's been a debatein battery tech for the new GMC Sierra EV! Rumored to use pouch cells for higher density, but folks say that hurts longevity. Look at Ford with the 4-second limit! Then there are prismatic like BMW's iX M50, lasting forever apparently. Cylindrical seem well-rounded, but packaging can be a pain. Anyone have the real scoop on pouch longevity? Is it safety over lifespan here, or are some automakers just doing it better?

cylindrical batteries are quite flexible and its packaging lessens the risk of being punctured it is just heavier compared to other battery types. Prismatic batteries on the other hand are easier to package and it is packed in a rigid shell but with the same shape as the stacked cylindrical batteries. Pouch cells on the other hand could come in different sizes, these battery types does not distribute internal loads well and they are prone to swelling or rupture causing more damage or failures. cylindrical batteries have a longer lifespan because it is made to last long.

RIght. Longevity mostly. Large battery packs in performance EVs make sense for pushing limits, but the overall cell strain might be lower due to the high capacity. Smaller packs in cheaper versions, however, could be limited by downgrading the cells' output rating to handle the same draw. While I prefer LFP prismatic cells for longevity, their balancing rituals for full charges might be a drawback.
